Beyond the mere application of the law on traceability, the project decided to introduce additional elements that will provide the final consumer with information that he usually doesn’t have. When the consumer buys a product he has to trust blindly the supplier, which will be responsible for the quality of the product and the observance of the law.

Beside this important relation of trust that only a quality brand can guarantee, the project wanted to provide some information to the final consumer that has access to internet.

• Laboratory analysis with information about the organoleptic quality of the product and the absence of injurious elements;
• Information about the methods used during the process of growth and ripening;
• Information about the harvesting and the transportation of the product to the distribution centers in Italy;
• Information and documents on the Geo-traceability that allow viewing clearly the fields and the production area using also satellite images;
• Socio-economic information related to the area and the producers.

It Synergy provides a Geo-Trace System solution that applies in the GCPP.

IT Synergy takes the approach of working to exceed information requirements in anticipation of future developments where possible without compromise to project viability and existing information availability. Which means in practice is that the systems we develop in support of the Green Corridor initiatve provide a comprehensive technological solution to the information needs posed by the initiative as a base requirement.

Geo Trace provides the consumer a safety feeling towards the products they buy is an optimum scenario. This is achieved by reflecting in the core of the system the overarching requirement to provide solid tracking facilities for the producers, all the way back to which farm they were grown on and when, with what type of seed and irrigation, organic or otherwise, through to the packing center and when they were packed andall the way up to tracking them by shipping times and destinations, logistics and other data in easy way to undestand and completely accessible through the internet.

IT Synergy has conducted initial assessments and has previously discussed the possible technological approaches forinformation management and supervision in service of the project. We have determined with extensive input from the Italian Cooperation the broad direction in which the technology selection, custmization, development, and implementation process can optimally proceed and we have created an encompassing vision of how to achieve the project goals efficiently and effectively through innovative and sustainable technological support systems.
